English Yew (Taxus baccata) topiary cone is an evergreen Conifer that is native to the British Isles. It is capable of being trimmed into a very tight hedge with a high finish. This ability to form a tight hedge also allows it to be trimmed into all sorts of topiary shapes. It is tolerant of being hard pruned which makes it very easy to control in a domestic garden. They are also tolerant of nearly all soil conditions except damp where they might be affected by root rots. They will also grow in quite heavy shade, but in shade the foliage will be thinner and not quite as dense.

English Yew (Taxus baccata) topiary cone are seen in very formal gardens normally in the gardens of large Stately homes.

The Royal Horticultural Society awarded English Yew (Taxus baccata) an Award of Garden Merit in 1984
