Photinia Red Robin Readybag Hedging
Photinia Red Robin Readybag hedging is grown for the red new growth that appears in the spring and after every trimming through the summer. It is a very vigorous grower throwing out long red branches with the bright red leaves. It will need regular trimming to keep the plant looking at its best as well as to keep the density of the hedge and also the lovely leaf colour. If allowed to grow more naturally it is possible for it to produce some creamy white flowers, but it does depend on the season and growing conditions. In perfect conditions the colour of the new growth can last up to 4 months.
As Photinia Red Robin readybag hedging has large leaves it is excellent for helping to reduce noise as it traps the sound within its leaves. This same trait also makes it good at removing dust and other particles out of the air.
Photinia Red Robin readybag hedging is lime tolerant but performs best in a good well drained soil.
The Royal Horticultural Society give it an Award of Merit in 1977 and an Award of Garden Merit in 1984.
